McAlester livestock auction report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,280 head selling on June 5, compared to 2,300 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to the May 22 sale, steer calves were selling $3 to $5 lower. Heifer calves were selling $4 to $7 lower. Demand was moderate. Quality was average through attractive, mostly attractive. The supply included 29% over 600 pounds, with 47% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $5 higher. A total of 365 cows and bulls sold with 59% going to packers.
