Sorghum crop conditions mixed

The National Agricultural Statistics Service reported the following sorghum crop conditions for the week ending June 24: 

Nebraska: Sorghum condition rated 0 percent very poor, 1 poor, 16 fair, 76 good, and 7 excellent. Sorghum headed was 2 percent, near 3 last year and 1 average.

Kansas: Sorghum condition rated 2 percent very poor, 4 poor, 31 fair, 58 good, and 5 excellent. Sorghum planted was 95 percent, ahead of 90 last year and 88 average. Headed was 4 percent, near 2 average.

Oklahoma: Sorghum planted reached 69 percent, down 24 points from the previous year. Sorghum headed reached 5 percent, up 4 points from the previous year.

Texas: Sorghum harvest was delayed in the Coastal Bend, South Texas and the Lower alley due to rain.

South Dakota: Sorghum condition rated 0 percent very poor, 1 poor, 9 fair, 90 good, and 0 excellent. Sorghum planted was 94 percent, near 98 last year and 92 average.

Missouri: Sorghum planted is at 95 percent, 8 percentage points ahead of the 5-year average, with 7 percent headed. Sorghum condition was rated 10 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 3 percent excellent.
