Springfield dairy heifer sale
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported receipts of 631 head selling on June 26, compared to 615 head a week ago and 585 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Demand was moderate to light, supply was moderate with near 25% springer and bred heifers, 32% open heifers, 06% fresh and milking cows, 06% springer and bred cows and 02% baby calves. The balance was steer calves and slaughter cows. A herd dispersal was in the offerings. Holsteins unless otherwise noted. Prices reported on a per head basis.
Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, supreme 1175.00 to 1230.00, individual registered 1450.00. Approved 900 to 1100.00, Jerseys 900.00 to 1075.00. Medium 725.00 to 825.00, crossbred 650.00 to 825.00. Common 470.00 to 575.00. Heifers bred three to six months, supreme 1075.00 to 1275.00, crossbreds 1010.00 to 1100.00. Approved 825.00 to 1060.00, crossbreds 800.00 to 900.00. Medium 600.00 to 800.00, crossbreds 600.00 to 675.00. Common 450.00 to 550.00.
Heifers bred one to three months, supreme couple 1030.00 to 1050.00. Approved 700.00 to 950.00, crossbreds 760.00 to 910.00.
