Wilson, Oklahoma student named All-Around Junior Cattleman of the Year
Morgan Nipp, a senior at Wilson High School, was recently honored as the All-Around Junior Cattleman of the Year during the Annual Oklahoma Junior Cattlemen’s Association Awards Luncheon.
All-Around Junior Cattleman is the most prestigious award that the Oklahoma Junior Cattlemen’s Association awards annually. Members earn points for participating in the speech, star and sales contests; and by placing in the top ten triple crown heifers, steers and the top ten of the steer feedout contest.
Nipp successfully competed in the speech, star and sales contest and won her respective division in all three contests. She just completed her term as the 2018 OJCA Vice President.
Nipp owns her own herd of purebred and commercial cattle and utilizes embryo transfer technologies. In addition to managing her own herd, Nipp is heavily involved in her family’s ranch and helps prepare for two bull sales held annually.
“Encouraging our young people is so very important, especially in our industry,” said Weston Givens, OCA president. “I place a lot of value on our Junior Cattlemen’s Association and feel like it provides some great opportunities for youth, like Morgan, who are interested in the beef industry to benefit from.”
Additionally, Nipp has completed the Master’s of Beef Advocacy program, serves as the president of the Wilson FFA Chapter and is involved in many FFA activities. With all of that, this young lady even has time to be in the starting lineup for both fast and slow-pitch softball teams.
Morgan is the daughter of Justin and Kilby Nipp and granddaughter of Curtiss and Brenda Nipp and Gary and Linda Giles.
