Hub City Livestock Auction report

The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, South Dakota, reported receipts of 1,713 head selling on July 25, compared to 1,200 head a week ago and 1,190 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

An accurate trend could not be established as there were mostly steers in this offering and the individual weight classes of heifers in the offering were not well compared. There was good to very good demand of mostly strings and loads with a few packages. The best demand seen was for a hundred head of spayed heifers coming off grass in light to moderate flesh. Steers made up 37% of the feeders, 63% heifers, 100% over 600 pounds.

Large frame 1, 1003 to 1012 lbs., 132.50 to 138.00 (136.56); 29 head, 1031 lbs., 127.00 fleshy; 1086 to 1091 lbs., 128.50 to 130.00 (129.43); 1132 to 1142 lbs., 129.00 to 130.00 (129.67); 1160 to 1166 lbs., 121.75 to 129.00 (127.28). Large frame 1 to 2, 13 head, 1032 lbs., 126.00.
