Apache Livestock Auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,800 head sellling on Aug. 30, compared to 1,654 head a week ago and 959 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling $1 to $3 higher. Steer calves were selling steady to $3 higher. Heifer calves were selling $2 to $4 higher. Quality was good to attractive with good demand on the better cattle. The supply included 40% over 600 pounds and 44% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 lower. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 259 cows and bulls sold with 35% going to packers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 5 years old, 1100 to 1400 lbs., with 150- to 350-lb. calves, high quality 1125.00 to 1375.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1500 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, average quality 1000.00 to 1025.00.
