San Angelo Livestock Auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,038 head selling on Sept. 6, compared to 1,147 head a week ago and 996 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling $1 to $3 lower in a limited test. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were selling firm. Stock cows and pairs were selling weak to slightly lower. Trading and demand was moderate for this rain-shortened supply. Quality of calves and yearlings was average to plain. Quality of stock cows and pairs was average to attractive. The supply included 15% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 44% feeders, 40% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 60% steers and bulls, 25% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 270 lbs., 180.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 171.00 to 180.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 162.00 to 164.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 150.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 134.00 to 139.00; 719 lbs., 130.00. Medium and large frame 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 161.00 to 176.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 155.00 to 160.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 146.00 to 156.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 135.00 to 145.00; 615 lbs., 131.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 278 lbs., 134.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 141.00 to 144.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 124.00 to 132.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1500 to 2000 lbs., 77.00 to 83.50; high yielding, 87.00; low yielding, 1150 to 1600 lbs., 72.00 to 77.00.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested and all were sold by the head.
