Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending Sept. 24, showed estimated receipts of 6,455 head selling, compared to 4,885 head a week ago and 12,330 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $3 to $11 higher. Feeder heifers were selling $1 to $8 higher. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling steady. The supply included 4,400 stocker and feeder calves, 1,155 feeder yearlings, 225 replacement cows, 590 slaughter cows and 85 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 41% yearling heifers.
