San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 807 head selling on Sept. 27, compared to 1,177 head a week ago and 579 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling $1 to $3 higher. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $2 lower, slaughter bulls were selling steady to $2 higher. Stock cows and pairs were trading firm in a light test. Trading was fairly active, demand was good. Quality was full range from attractive to plain. The supply included 15% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 80% feeders, 4% stock cows and pairs. The feeders were 65% steers and bulls, with 30% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 250 to 300 lbs., 196.00 to 197.00; 330 lbs., 209.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 159.00 to 166.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 153.00 to 160.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 140.00 to 146.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 182.00 to 194.00; 418 lbs., 173.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 150.00 to 155.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 139.00 to 146.00; 713 lbs., 134.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 169.00 to 177.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 150.00 to 165.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 140.00 to 149.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 133.00 to 138.00; 830 lbs., 124.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1500 to 2450 lbs., 80.00 to 88.00; high yielding, 89.50 to 90.00; low yielding, 1150 to 1600 lbs., 71.00 to 77.00.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested, all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 2, 875.00.

Pairs: All sold by the pair. All have 150- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1100.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 800 to 1000 lbs., no test; young and middle age, 800 to 1100 lbs., 80.00 to 89.00 hundredweight; middle age, 900 to 1450 lbs., 63.00 to 77.00 hundredweight; thin and or aged, 800 to 1375 lbs., 48.00 to 61.00 hundredweight.
