Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending Sept. 28, showed estimated receipts of 9,895 head selling, compared to 6,455 head a week ago and 14,265 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling mostly steady to $8 lower. Feeder heifers were selling mostly $1 lower. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 higher. The supply included 6,670 stocker and feeder calves, 1,910 feeder yearlings, 615 replacement cows, 580 slaughter cows and 120 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 41% yearling heifers.
