High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Sept. 30, totaled 106,273 head selling, compared to 110,094 head a week ago and 92,211 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 27,923 head, 1,325 to 1,575 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00 (110.59; 65 to 80% Choice, 12,047 head, 1,250 to 1,600 lbs., 109.00 to 111.00 (110.71); 35 to 65% Choice, 3,197 head, 1,200 to 1,460 lbs., 111.00. Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 15,012 head, 803 to 1,051 lbs., 172.00 to 175.00 (173.72); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,630 head, 819 to 1,008 lbs., 173.00 to 175.00 (174.14).
