Dodge City livestock auction report
The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,926 head selling on Oct. 3, compared to 1,975 head a week ago and 3,165 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 850 to 900 pounds were selling $2 to $3 higher. Sales were steady to slightly higher on all other comparable weights. There were few offerings of feeder heifers. On limited comparable weights, 700 to 750 pounds were selling $5 to $6 higher, with a slightly higher undertone on all other comparable weights. Steer and heifer calves saw a lower undertone on limited comparable weights. Demand was good to very good. Quality was average to mostly attractive. Slaughter cows were selling $3 to $5 lower. Bulls were selling $1 to $2 lower with limited offerings. The feeder supply was 48% steers, 52% heifers, with 85% over 600 pounds.
