Pratt livestock auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported estimated receipts of 3,832 head selling on Oct. 18, compared to 881 head a week ago and 1,103 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, there were limited comparable weights from the Oct. 4 sale. No trend is available for steers due to limited testing, but a higher undertone was noted with a few sharp increases on some loads. Feeder heifers were selling steady to slightly lower on very limited comparable weights. A heavy supply of calves were offered, with a high undertone noted. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling mostly steady with slightly lower undertone noted. Overall, demand good to very good, quality average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply is 72% steers, 28% heifers, with 82% over 600 pounds.
