Tulia Livestock Auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,170 head selling on Oct. 18, compared to 1,150 head a week ago and 3,051 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling with a lower undertone on limited comparable sales. Trade activity was light on moderate demand. Rain and colder weather set in on the trading area to make for muddy conditions and continued to curb receipts. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 11%, less than 1% replacements and 89% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 57% steers and bulls, 43% heifers. Approximately 53% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
