Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported estimated receipts of 3,300 head selling on Nov. 8, compared to 2,023 head a week ago and 3,096 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
This was the mid to session report. Compared to a week ago, 800 to 900 pound feeder steers were selling $4 higher, with a higher demand noted for this weight. Quite a few load lots of 800 to 900 pounds were offered. There were very limited offerings of feeder heifers, 650 to 700 pounds were selling steady to $6 higher. There were not enough steer and heifer calves of comparable weights for a market test, but a lower undertone was noted with a light demand for calves. Overall, demand was moderate to good, quality average to attractive. The feeder supply was 71% steers, 29% heifers, with 88% over 600 pounds.
