Vineyard disease and pest management program will be Dec. 12 in Anderson
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service viticulture program will host a Disease and Pest Management program Dec. 12 at The Grand View Vineyard, 10365 Country Spring Road, in Anderson.
Bill Thomas, owner of Grand View Vineyard, is hosting the event.
The program will offer five Texas Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator continuing education units—one for integrated pest management, one for laws and regulations, one for drift minimization and two general. Course instructors will be AgriLife Extension Service specialists.
Topics will include the following:
- Getting the Most Out of Your Chemical Spray, Justin Scheiner, viticulture specialist;
- Insect Identification and Control in the Vineyard, Fran Pontasch, viticulture program specialist;
- Vineyard Floor Management, Michael Cook, viticulture program specialist;
- Pesticide Laws and Regulations, Dr. Don Renchie, pesticide safety program coordinator; and
- Minimizing Drift in Hayfields, Allen Homann, AgriLife Extension agent for Grimes County.
Cost is $40 per person, until Dec. 5, and $45 until Dec. 12. Lunch is provided.
