Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,982 head selling on Nov. 15, compared to 2,765 head a week ago and 2,991 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer calves and feeder steers were selling steady to $2 lower. Heifer calves and a few feeder heifers on offer were selling mostly steady except several packages of weaned 650 to 700 pound weaned heifer calves were selling $1 to $3 higher. Supplies on offer were mostly weaned steer and heifer calves with pre-conditioning vaccinations. Beef slaughter cows and bulls were selling $1 to $2 higher, dairy slaughter cows were selling steady. Trade was fairly active. Demand fairly good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 15%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 85%. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers. Near 47% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. There will be no sales due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
