Aberdeen livestock auction report
The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, South Dakota, reported receipts of 3,790 head selling on Nov. 28, compared to 5,596 head Nov. 14 and 3,179 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
There was no feeder cattle sale last week due to Thanksgiving. Compared to the Nov. 14 sale, steer calves 450 to 500 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, 501 to 750 pounds were selling $1 to $4 higher, except 550 to 600 pounds were selling steady to $1 lower. Heifer calves 450 to 500 pounds and 601 to 650 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher, 501 to 600 pounds were selling mostly steady. There were no good comparisons on yearlings. Good to very good demand for both calves and yearlings offered. Steers made up 62% of the feeder supply, heifers 38%, 51% over 600 pounds.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 353 to 393 lbs., 198.00 to 214.00 (206.38); 413 to 448 lbs., 184.00 to 205.00 (189.49); 453 to 495 lbs., 180.00 to 200.00 (185.61); 12 head, 455 lbs., 171.00 fleshy; 501 to 540 lbs., 167.00 to 182.50 (175.86); 553 to 596 lbs., 158.50 to 174.50 (165.76); 553 to 589 lbs., 149.00 to 154.50 (152.91) fleshy; 601 to 645 lbs., 152.00 to 166.00 (162.62) calves; 652 to 691 lbs., 147.50 to 160.50 (152.89) calves.
