Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported estimated receipts of 4,970 head selling Nov. 29, compared to 3,214 head Nov. 15 and 6,471 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to the Nov. 15 sale, on limited comparable weights, feeder steers 800 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $4 lower. Feeder heifers 750 to 800 pounds were selling $4 to $6 higher, 950 to 1000 pounds were selling $3 to $5 lower. A heavy supply of long weaned calves were offered. Steer calves 400 to 450 pounds had instances of $8 higher, 500 to 600 pounds were selling $10 higher. A higher undertone was noted on light weight calves 500 pounds and lighter. Heifer calves 500 to 550 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher. Buyers discounted calves that were short weaned or fresh off the cows. Bulls were selling $1 to $3 lower on limited test. Overall, demand was good to very good, quality was average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply was 68% steers, 32% heifers, with 54% over 600 pounds.
