Ericson Livestock Auction report

The Ericson Livestock Auction, Ericson, Nebraska, reported receipts of 2,250 head selling Dec. 15, compared to 5,312 head a week ago and 2,900 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.

The bred cow and heifer auction included packages and a few dispersals. There were both black- and red-hided cattle, artificially inseminated and bull bred, mostly in their second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Demand was moderate to good from the buyers in the crowd. Due to holiday closings the next sale will be available Jan. 5, 2019.

Bred heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, AI bred 944 lbs., 1330.00, 1006 to 1089 lbs., 1710.00 to 1950.00, 1103 to 1200 lbs., 1460.00 to 1800.00 per head. Bull bred 956 to 980 lbs., 1390.00, 1006 to 1097 lbs., 1410.00 to 1700.00, 1103 to 1124 lbs., 1510.00 to 1675.00 per head.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 1100 to 1269 lbs., 1600.00 to 1800.00, thin fleshed 1091 lbs., 1450.00 per head; solid mouthed 1234 to 1520 lbs., 950.00 to 1410, late bred 1262 lbs., 870.00 per head; short to solid mouthed 1341 to 1342 lbs., 1080.00 to 1085.00 per head. Broken mouthed, 1225 to 1349 lbs., 780.00 to 950.00, late bred 1410 lbs., 650.00 per head. Running ages 1109 to 1435 lbs., 780.00 to 950.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, solid mouthed, 1597 to 1615 lbs., pairs with 150- to 250-lb. calves at side 1575.00 per pair.
