Joplin Regional cattle sales report
The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Carthage, Missouri, reported 100% feeder cattle receipts of 4,342 head selling on Dec. 17, compared to 4,893 head a week ago and 5,753 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, steers and heifers were selling steady to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate. The feeder cattle supply included 49% steers, 2% dairy steers, 40% heifers and 9% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 47%. Joplin Regional Stockyards will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. The first sale of the year will be Jan. 2, 2019.
