Joplin Regional Stockyards feeder cattle auction summary
Joplin Regional Stockyards, Carthage, Missouri, reported receipts of 7,392 head of feeder cattle selling on Jan. 11, compared to 11,730 head on Jan. 4 and 6,263 head a year ago, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to the previous week, the steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower, except those under 500 pounds were steady to firm. The supply and demand was moderate. The supply included 100% feeder cattle with 57% steers, 41% was heifers and 3% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 53%.
