Winter Livestock cattle auction results
Winter Livestock, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,337 head of cattle selling on March 3, compared to 4,566 head on Feb. 24 and 3,125 head a year ago, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to the previous week, the feeder steers weighing 700 to 975 pounds were selling $1 to $2 lower. The feeder steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds were selling $2 higher. The steer calves weighing 400 to 600 pounds were steady to $2 lower. The steer and heifer calves weighing 300 to 400 pounds were selling $3 to $5 higher. The heifers weighing 400 to 800 pounds were selling $2 to $4 lower. The feeder heifers weighing 800 to 900 pounds were steady. The demand was moderate. The slaughter cows and bull were selling $2 to $4 lower. The supply included 94% feeder cattle with 52% steers, 48% were heifers and 1% were bulls; 4% was slaughter cattle with 77% cows and 23% were bulls; and 2% was replacement cattle with 78% bred cows and 22% were bred heifers. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 76%.
