Read Psalm 104:24-30
How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.—Psalm 104:24 (NIV)
My mother has a small garden in our backyard where she grows several kinds of flowering plants. One particular plant with purple flowers stands out from the rest. Every morning, the plant displays beautiful flowers that face up toward the sky. But by noon, the flowers have all withered and fallen off, one by one. At night we can find no new flowers among the leaves. But by the next morning, fresh purple flowers appear again.
I am amazed at how God perfectly takes care of each and every part of creation. When I consider all the living things on this earth, I recognize that my mother’s purple flowers are a very small part of creation. Yet God never fails to bring up new flowers each morning after the previous ones have fallen off.
There are billions of people and innumerable living things, each with specific needs. Yet God cares for each part of creation. I believe God hears all our prayers and praises, and God works to bring us good things.
Prayer: O God, we are grateful for your creation. Thank you for the goodness and care you provide for every living thing. Amen.
Thought for the day: Even though I am a small part of God’s creation, God cares deeply for me.
