Cream peas.

Cream Peas

Farmer/Rancher from Offerle, Kansas 

Servings: 6-8 

Total Time: 20 minutes 

This is one of my absolute favorites. 

Ingredients:

4 Tbsp unsalted butter 

3 Tbsp all-purpose flour 

1/4 tsp garlic powder 

2 cups whole milk or half and half 

1 tsp salt 

1/2 tsp black pepper 

2 cans small sweet peas 

Instructions:

Melt butter over medium-high heat in a medium-sized saucepan. Whisk the flour and garlic powder into the butter until incorporated and smooth; slowly whisk in the milk and cook, stirring frequently over medium-high heat until the mixture has thickened, about 6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper; add the peas and cook, stirring frequently, until the peas are heated through, about 4 minutes. Garnish with additional salt and pepper if needed.
