High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 1 reported receipts of 51,919 head of cattle selling compared to 43,913 head a week ago and 57,151 head trading a year ago, according to USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. This report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. 

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 14,858 head, 1,370 to 1,650 lbs., 170.00 to 174.00 (172.28); 65 to 80% Choice, 7,455 head, 1,225 to 1,650 lbs., 171.00 to 173.00 (172.28); 35 to 65% Choice, 613 head, 1,250 to 1,400 lbs., 170.00 to 173.00 (172.09). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 995 head, 1,475 to 1,550 lbs., 171.50 to 175.00 (173.20). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 6,414 head, 853 to 1,065 lbs., 270.00 to 273.50 (272.89); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,245 head, 889 to 1,011 lbs., 269.00 to 273.00 (272.76). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 830 head, 882 to 1,008 lbs., 272.00 to 276.00 (274.29).
