Build for the Future at the Plains Cotton Growers 2024 Annual Meeting

The Plains Cotton Growers Inc. 67th Annual Meeting has been set for Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Overton Hotel and Conference Center in Lubbock. Walk-in registration as well as a continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., and the program will commence at 9:00 a.m.

This year’s program will feature keynote speaker David Avrin. Avrin specializes in customer experience and marketing. He will share insight on future proofing business as well as how the behaviors and purchasing decisions of new generations of consumers affect business today and beyond.

The U.S. Farm Report, with host Tyne Morgan, will be taped at the annual meeting and feature three esteemed economists as guests. Jody Campiche, vice president of economics and policy analysis, Bart Fischer, co-director of the Texas A&M University Agricultural Food and Policy Center, and Brad Weddelman, chief economist for Combest, Sell & Associates, will all be present to discuss cotton economics and markets.

There will be two breakout sessions offered in the afternoon. Attendees will have two options for each session. In the first session, PCG CEO Kody Bessent will moderate a panel of state legislators to discuss advocacy. Panelists include Sen. Charles Perry (District 28) and Rep. Carl Tepper (District 84). Also, in the first session will be a panel discussing the financial future of agriculture. Guests include AgTexas CEO Kayla Robinson, CoBank Regional Relationship Manager Mike Cowley and a representative from Capital Farm Credit.

The second breakout session will feature two options as well. Amber Miller, partner with Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam LLC, will be presenting on retirement considerations for producers as they transition off the farm. The second option is a panel on the future of seed/chemistry development and regulation moderated by cotton extension specialist Ken Legé. Guests include representatives from Americot, BASF, Bayer, Corteva and Syngenta.

StoneX Group’s Cotton Marketing and Hedging workshop will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. as well, featuring market outlooks, and informational sessions on interest rate hedging and cotton hedging with futures and over-the-counter products.
