High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 18, reported receipts of 60,693 head compared to 61,134 head a week ago and 62,283 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Steers: Live FOB basis, 21,342 head, 1,350 to 1,635 lbs., 185.00 to 192.00 (189.75).  65 to 80% Choice, 2,996 head, 1,250 to 1,550 lbs., 184.00 to 190.00 (185.84). 35 to 65% Choice, 752 head, 1,275 to 1,3.50 lbs., 185.00 to 185.00 (184.00).  Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1242 head, 1,450 to 1,550 lbs., 190.00 to 193.00 (191.49).
