High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending April 6, reported receipts of 58,884 head compared to 52,791 head a week ago and 65,915 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 19,109 head, 1,350 to 1,675 lbs., 208.00 to 215.00 (211.85); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,506 head, 1,275 to 1,580 lbs., 205.00 to 211.00 (208.13); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,959 head, 1,350 to 1,550 lbs., 204.00 to 210.00 (208.11). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 2,397 head, 1,400 to 1,625 lbs., 211.00 to 216.00 (213.76). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 8,982 head, 851 to 1,051 lbs., 330.00 to 345.00 (336.58); 65 to 80% Choice, 356 head, 922 to 1,012 lbs., 329.00 to 335.00 (333.64). Dressed FOB, 918 head, 921 to 1,016 lbs., 335.00 to 340.00 (338.22).
