Oklahoma Wheat needs District 5 nominees

Oklahoma Wheat Commission

The Oklahoma Wheat Commission will hold an election to fill the District 5 board seat opening at 1 p.m. May 14, at the Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City-Conference Center B, 2101 N. Ash.

District 5 encompasses all counties east of the western boundary lines of Kay, Noble, Logan, Oklahoma, Cleveland, Grady, Stephens, and Jefferson counties. Candidates must be at least 25 years old, a resident of Oklahoma, engaged in growing wheat in the state for at least five years and must derive a substantial portion of his/her income from growing wheat.

Three nominations will be made at the election, from which the Oklahoma secretary of agriculture will appoint one person to serve a five-year term with the Oklahoma Wheat Commission. The commission’s District 5 board meeting, which is open to the public, will begin at 9 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. For more information, contact the OWC office at (405) 608-4350.
