Hayden On Harvest: INSANE West Texas wheat harvest yields
Hey harvest fans! Today’s adventure takes us to Hayden’s incredible wheat fields in West Texas, where our custom harvesting crew is tackling some seriously challenging conditions.
The day starts with some typical harvest crew shuffling – JW headed home due to homesickness, and Harmon stepped in to help drive trucks. The team’s working through 103-degree heat, battling weeds and dust that’s making the field look like the Sahara Desert.
What makes this day extra special? Hayden actually reached out to the crew after watching their YouTube videos, specifically requesting they harvest his wheat. Talk about a cool connection! As a sweet welcome, Hayden even surprised the crew with a full case of ice cream – a first for these hardworking harvesters.
The crew’s cutting method is unique today – they’re working in circular tracks around the pivot, which helps protect the combine’s sickle and makes for more efficient harvesting. Despite some equipment challenges – including Mom’s combine breaking down mid-day – they’re pushing through and making progress.
The wheat yields are varied, with some spots producing around 30-40 bushels, and one magical section hitting an impressive 120 bushels. Just another day in the unpredictable world of wheat harvesting!
Stay tuned for more wheat-cutting adventures with this incredible crew!
