Philippians 4:4-9

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. —Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

A mountain of debts had piled up, and anxiety and worry consumed me. I worked hard at every job I was offered, but still it wasn’t enough.

One night, exhausted by the problems looming over me, I broke down in tears. It was then that I realized that for the past months, anxiety and worry had not been my only companions. God, who is stronger and greater than any problem I have, had been with me all along, waiting for me to surrender and seek help.

Whatever burdens we carry, we don’t have to do it all alone. God will help us to carry them. Challenging times will come, but when we recognize God’s presence in our lives, we can make it through. The peace that we receive from God calms our minds and hearts so that we can surrender our worry and live for God’s glory.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us to remember and acknowledge your work in our lives. Lead us today as we live in service to you. We pray as you taught us, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one” (Matt. 6:9-13, NIV). Amen.

Thought for the day: God is my solace.
