Hayden On Harvest: Why does this keep happening?!
Hey wheat harvest fans! Join Hayden on another wild day of cutting wheat in the Texas panhandle. Today’s journey started with some serious mosquito battles and a 50-mile move that had the team prepping combines and headers for a big day of harvesting.
Hayden and his crew rolled into massive wheat fields near the New Mexico border, hoping to knock out around 560 acres. But Mother Nature had other plans! The wheat was looking good, but those pesky green berries were making moisture levels tricky. Some spots were perfect at 12%, while others needed a few more days of drying.
Just when things were looking promising, the day took some wild turns. A small fire sparked up in the windy, 100-degree heat, and then – you guessed it – rain rolled in! Hayden couldn’t help but laugh about how the moisture jumped to 15% and completely shut down harvesting for the day.
Between dodging mosquitoes, dealing with unexpected rain, and dreaming up a million-dollar idea for keeping soda carbonated in bumpy combine fields, Hayden’s day was anything but boring. Despite the challenges, his positive spirit shines through – just another day in the life of a wheat harvest crew!
Stay tuned for more adventures from the wheat fields!
