High Plains cattle sales report
The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Oct. 12, reported receipts of 41,923 head compared to 41,942 head a week ago and 76,867 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 17,409 head, 1,300 to 1,700 lbs., 230.00 to 235.00 (234.06); 65 to 80% Choice, 411 head, 1,300 to 1,600 lbs., 234.00 to 235.00 (234.42); 35 to 65% Choice, 34 head, 1,525 lbs., 235.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 826 head, 1 1,500 lbs., 234.00 to 236.00 (235.20). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 5,907 head, 837 to 1,105 lbs., 358.00 to 368.00 (362.58); 65 to 80% Choice, 673 head, 960 to 1,020 lbs., 362.00.
