Schrader named KBC’s manager of industry relations
The Kansas Beef Council has named Weston Schrader as the new manager of industry relations to continue efforts in serving Kansas beef producers and strengthening relationships across the beef industry.
Schrader will be responsible for coordinating beef checkoff collections and compliance efforts for Topeka-based KBC and will lead producer outreach programming, including the Beef Quality Assurance program.
“Weston brings a strong understanding of the beef industry, a proven record of leadership and a genuine passion for connecting with producers,” KBC Executive Director Scott Stebner said. “His background and experience make him a great fit for this role, and we are excited to have him on our team.”
A graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in animal sciences and industry, Schrader brings an agricultural background and a passion for the livestock industry to the position. He was raised on a seedstock beef operation in Ottawa County.
During his time at K-State, Schrader served as an ASI mentor and selections co-chair for the College of Agriculture Ambassadors. He was a member of the 2023 National Champion Meat Animal Evaluation Team and was recognized as an Academic All-American at the National Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest in Louisville, Kentucky. His academic achievements also include being an Outstanding Undergraduate Research Scholarship recipient and serving as host of the “Voices of KSU ASI podcast”.
Schrader has been actively involved in both the Kansas and American International Junior Charolais associations, where he served as president of the national junior board of directors from 2023–2024. In this role, he represented the United States at the World Charolais Youth Conference in Ireland.
“As someone who is heavily involved with my family’s cattle operation and understands the joys and challenges of livestock production, pursuing a career that advocates for beef and the hard-working men and women who supply it has been a dream of mine,” Schrader said. “I’m excited to be a part of the Kansas Beef Council team and interact with individuals throughout the entire beef supply chain.”
Schrader will work closely with producers, partners and stakeholders across the state to support education and outreach efforts and xheckoff-funded initiatives that strengthen demand for beef and build trust in the industry.
