UNL to look at dryland research in High Plains
Crop and livestock producers, researchers, and community members are invited to a public meeting on Feb. 11, focused on “Dryland Production in the High Plains.” The meeting will highlight current challenges facing agriculture in the region and research efforts to address them.
The morning session will begin with coffee and doughnuts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the program at 9 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Western Nebraska Community College Sidney Campus, 371 S. College Dr. in Sidney.
The meeting will showcase recent and ongoing research conducted at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s High Plains Agricultural Laboratory, along with updates on emerging issues affecting High Plains agriculture. Topics will include alternative crops, crop rotations, wheat stem sawfly, crop fertility, and livestock research.
Following the research updates, the annual meeting of the HPAL Advisory Committee will take place. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and share ideas and suggestions for future research priorities at the laboratory.
Administrative and business updates related to HPAL will also be provided during the meeting, along with lunch for all attendees.
The event is open to the public. For more information, contact Cody Creech at [email protected].
