When Shelbie Rose stepped into the arena at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, this summer, she expected to spend the week supporting the student-athletes as she always has. Instead, she found herself at the center of one of the highest honors in collegiate rodeo.
Rose was named the 2026 National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Coach of the Year, earning national recognition for a career dedicated to student-athlete success and the continued growth of Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s storied rodeo program.
The honor marked a new milestone in a coaching career already filled with accomplishments. Before receiving the national award, Rose had earned six consecutive Central Plains Region Coach of the Year honors, a reflection of the consistency and excellence she has brought to the Aggie rodeo program.
