South Dakota 4-H, a program of South Dakota State University Extension, will host a Public Service and Civic Engagement event for youth, in partnership with the SDSU School of Global and American Studies, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Davison County Fairgrounds in Mitchell.

Youth will explore how local government operates through hands-on activities, real-world simulations and conversations with community leaders. Participants will meet with local officials to learn about city and county government, discover how elections are conducted and explore ways they can make a difference in their communities.

Through discussions and team-based activities, youth will build leadership, critical thinking and decision-making skills while learning how their voices can help shape the future of communities.
