OSU announces spring wheat plot tour schedule through late May
Oklahoma State University will host a series of wheat variety plot tours across the state beginning April 20 in Walters, with additional stops scheduled through May 22.
The first tour will begin at 10 a.m. at Jimmy Kinder’s farm in Walters. Additional April events include Chickasha on April 24 and Apache on April 29, each featuring replicated plots and management comparisons.
The tours will continue into May with stops in El Reno, Alva, Cherokee and Greenfield, among others. Events will include both replicated and demonstration plots, with some locations highlighting comparisons such as dual-purpose versus grain-only systems or intensive versus standard management.
Later stops on the schedule include Kingfisher, Lahoma, Balko, Sentinel and Hooker, concluding May 22 in Miami. Several locations will offer meals or additional presentations in conjunction with the tours.
According to the schedule, tour times and locations may change depending on environmental conditions, and participants are encouraged to confirm details with local county extension offices.
The events are designed to give producers and industry participants an opportunity to evaluate wheat varieties and management practices under local growing conditions.
