The Montana Pulse Crop Committee has added Tanner Jorgensen, a fourth-generation producer farming near Dagmar. Jorgensen began farming in 2011 as an FFA project, renting land from his grandparents, and has continued building his operation ever since.
Today, the family raises green peas, durum, spring wheat, barley and oilseeds.
Jorgensen brings a producer’s perspective on several of the challenges facing Montana pulse growers, including market volatility, herbicide resistance, disease pressure and the need to better communicate modern agricultural practices to consumers. He also sees stronger markets as a key part of keeping family farms viable for the next generation.
