South Dakota hosts North American Manure Expo Aug. 15-16
Only a few days remain before the start of North America’s largest manure-specific trade show and field day.
The 2018 North American Manure Expo is being held Aug. 15 and 16 at the Swiftel Center in Brookings, South Dakota, and promises to be two days filled with the latest and greatest information related to manure and nutrient management.
The first day, Aug. 15, features three separate tours of local operations from differing sectors—dairy, beef and swine.
Tours cost $20 to attend and include transportation to and from the Swiftel Center in Brookings, as well as a box lunch. Pre-registration is required.
Following the tours, attendees will have an opportunity to view equipment demonstrations highlighting lagoon agitation before returning to the show grounds to visit the trade show and take part in industry presentations.
The second day, Aug. 16, starts with a morning of education sessions. Attendees can choose from 24 different manure-related education talks, which have been arranged in four concurrent sessions. Themes include manure basics, manure and the environment, manure on the job site, and manure and soil health.
In the afternoon, attendees can visit the trade show and also view the newest equipment at work in the field. About one dozen solid and seven liquid spreaders are scheduled to demonstrate. There will also be compost turning, a compaction demonstration, a discussion on pit additives plus demonstration of side dressing corn using a drag hose system.
These two days promise to be a great opportunity to see and learn everything there is to know about manure application and management. Act quickly to get your seat for the tours. Visi: manuremanager.com/manure-expo/.
The North American Manure Expo is an annual educational and demonstration event. Launched in 2001, the event consists of a trade show, equipment showcases, farm tours and educational seminars. The 2018 Manure Expo will bring together decision makers from highly intensive livestock operations (dairy, beef, pork and poultry), custom manure applicators, researchers, consultants and government agencies.
