Apache livestock auction report

The Apache Livestock Auction, Apache, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,586 head selling on April 26, compared to 1,615 head a week ago and 2,234 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $1 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers were selling $1 to $2 higher. Steer calves were selling $2 to $6 higher. Heifer calves were selling $4 to $7 higher. Quality was good to attractive. The supply included 81% over 600 pounds and 35% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 lower. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 141 cows and bulls sold with 57% going to packers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, high quality 1475.00 to 1610.00; 8 years old, 1000 lbs., with 125-lb. calves, average quality 1150.00.
