Tulia Livestock Auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,384 head selling on Aug. 16, compared to 1,223 head a week ago and 1,393 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling mostly steady. Trade was fairly active on moderate to good demand. The offering included several loads of yearling steers and heifers in good thin condition. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $3 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2%, less than 1% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 62% steers and 38% heifers. Approximately 81% off the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 265 lbs., 215.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 175.00 to 183.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 152.50 to 156.00, full 140.00 to 146.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 143.85 to 149.25, half load 709 lb. calves 139.50, loads 711 lbs., thin fleshed 155.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 137.25 to 144.50; few 1019 lbs., 113.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 145.00 to 150.00; lot 611 lb. calves 138.50; few 738 lbs., 149.50; lot 805 lbs., 136.00; few 873 lbs., 130.00.
