Tulia Livestock market report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,150 head selling on Oct. 10, compared to 2,275 head a week ago and 3,211 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, yearling steers and heifers were selling mostly steady with instances selling $4 higher. Stocker calves were selling with a lower undertone. Trade activity was light to moderate on moderate demand. The trading area received a substantial amount of rainfall making for muddy conditions but benefitted local wheat pastures. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 6%, 0% replacements and 94% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 82% steers and bulls, 18% heifers. Approximately 71% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 173.00 to 174.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 145.00 to 169.00; 600 to 650 lb. calves 147.50 to 148.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 161.00 to 164.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 156.00 to 161.50, loads 712 lbs., fancy 168.25; lot 770 lbs 153.50; couple 975 lbs., 126.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 145.00 to 164.00; few 537 lbs., 147.00; 600 to 650 lb. calves 141.00 to 147.00; few 775 lbs., 134.00. Medium and large frame 2, few 718 lbs., 139.00.
Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 540 lbs., 130.00.
