The latest national cattle producer attitude survey showed 74% approve of the beef checkoff, up five percentage points from a year ago. Investor Relations Working Group Co-Chair Jo Stanko said it is encouraging when three out of four producers continue to support the checkoff.
In addition to stronger support for the program, 76% of producers said the checkoff has contributed to a positive trend in beef demand. Of those responding, 78% said the checkoff has value even when the cattle economy is weak. The survey showed 65% believe the checkoff contributes to profitability in their operations.
Aspen Media & Market Research conducted the random survey of 804 beef and dairy producers from mid-December 2017 to mid-January 2018.
