Carbon credits meeting May 15 in Holliday, Texas

An “Ag $upport Programs and Carbon Credits” meeting hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Archer and Wichita counties will be May 15 at the Archer County Activity Center, 201 N. Walnut, Holliday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with a meal, followed by the presentations from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be a $10 registration fee at the door, and a meal will be provided.

For those planning to attend, an RSVP is requested by May 10 to the AgriLife Extension offices in Archer County at 940-574-4914 or Wichita County at 940-716-8610.

“Come join us to hear the pros and cons of carbon credits and the USDA rainfall insurance program,” said David Graf, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent in Wichita County. “The speakers will review the basics of rainfall insurance and also provide the latest information on the carbon credit program to help you make a good decision in evaluating their value for your operation.”

• U.S. Department of Agriculture Programs for Livestock and Forage, Johnson.

• Annual Forage Rainfall Index Program for Wheat, Pasture, Summer Forages, Davey Jones, Ag Defense Risk Management, Elgin, Oklahoma.

• Rainfall Simulation for Archer County, Johnson.
