Pratt Livestock auction report
The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,561 head selling on Jan. 4, compared to 1,951 head selling Dec. 21 and 3,309 head selling at this same time last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
This was the first sale in 2018. In feeder steers 650 to 1000 pounds, a firm to a higher undertone was noted. In feeder heifers 650 to 950 pounds, a firm to a higher undertone was noted on a light supply of medium and large frame 1. In steers and heifer calves, a higher undertone was noted on a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to firm. Trade was active and demand good. Receipts included 77% 600 pounds and over, 9% 600 pounds and under and 14% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 70% steers, 30% heifers.
