High Plains slaughter cattle sales report
The High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Jan. 7, totaled 85,777 head selling, compared to 66,480 head a week ago and 75,654 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% choice, 16,621 head, 1,275 to 1,600 lbs., 121.00 to 124.50 (121.91); 65 to 80% choice, 14,328 head, 1,225 to 1,550 lbs., 120.00 to 122.00 (121.79); 35 to 65% choice, 5,483 head, 1,210 to 1,425 lbs., 119.00 to 122.00 (120.23). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% choice, 7,481 head, 788 to 1,016 lbs., 192.00 to 196.00 (194.07); 65 to 80% choice, 4,834 head, 806 to 987 lbs., 193.00 to 195.00 (193.49); 35 to 65% choice, 195 head, 794 to 882 lbs., 193.00.
