In Kansas, hay market activity moderate, demand moderate to good for alfalfa and moderate for grass hay. Prices steady to firm for all classes, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jan. 9. Prices given on a per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.

Southwest: Dairy alfalfa, grass hay steady, grinding alfalfa and ground and delivered steady to $5 higher, movement slow. Alfalfa, horse, small squares, $240-$250. Supreme dairy, .85-.95/point RFV $155-$175; premium, $155-$165; good, $135-$155. Stock or dry cow alfalfa, $110-$120. Fair/good grinding alfalfa, $120-$135. Ground and delivered locally to feedlots and dairies, $140-$150. Bluestem grass hay, large squares, $80-$90. Brome, none reported.
