Pratt Livestock auction report

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,550 head selling on Jan. 11, compared to 2,561 head a week ago and 5,990 head selling last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a light test a week ago, feeder steers 600 to 1000 pounds were selling $10 to $12 lower. Feeder heifers 650 to 850 pounds were selling $8 to $10 lower. In steer and heifer calves, a lower undertone was noted on a light supply. Trade was slow and demand light. Slaughter cows were selling $3 lower and bulls steady. Receipts included 74% (2631) 600 pounds and above and 11% 600 pounds and under and 15% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 67% steers, 33% heifers.
